Do you love to wear soft cosy winter knits, but find that by the time you have washed your favourite cardigan 5 times it is no longer soft, it’s stretched so the hem is lopsided and is covered with lint and pills?

Good quality knits, in a blend of luxurious merino wool and cotton as well as cotton and cashmere, look and feel beautiful and we have all the tips that you’ll need to keep them that way.

So good news first, Goondiwindi Cotton Merino Wool and Cashmere blends are exceptionally easy to care for and keep in tip-top condition. Best of all our garments made from a blend of extra fine merino wool and cotton are non pilling and machine washable, making them great to wear and super easy to care for.

Goondiwindi Cotton knitted garments simply require:

A cool machine wash & warm iron
Wash and dry dark colours separately
Lie your garment flat to dry & store your knits folded

Easy right!?!

We do recommend that you:
Do Not Dry Clean
Do Not Tumble Dry
Do Not Hang (on the line or in your cupboard)

So how do you care for fussy knitwear?

  1. Use cold to warm water in your wash (a 30-40 degree celsius wash is perfect) - while the common belief is that wool in particular will shrink when exposed to water - it is generally the rubbing of fibres which will cause wool to felt (which is great for your Akubra - but not for your jumper).

  2. To prevent the aforementioned felting - we recommend you either;
    1. Hand wash your knits (use your hands to agitate the water, allow to soak for up to an hour and rinse in cold water, then use pressure to squeeze the water out - Do Not Wring!)
    2. Tightly roll your knits, place them in a delicates bag and pin the delicates bag tightly to hold the knit in place

  3. Ensure you wash your knits with like colours (lights with lights and darks with darks).

  4. Dry your knits on a flat surface.

  5. Ensure that you store your knits folded and on a flat surface (do not hang them on a coat hanger).
