So how do you care for fussy knitwear?
Use cold to warm water in your wash (a 30-40 degree celsius wash is perfect) - while the common belief is that wool in particular will shrink when exposed to water - it is generally the rubbing of fibres which will cause wool to felt (which is great for your Akubra - but not for your jumper).
- To prevent the aforementioned felting - we recommend you either;
- Hand wash your knits (use your hands to agitate the water, allow to soak for up to an hour and rinse in cold water, then use pressure to squeeze the water out - Do Not Wring!)
Tightly roll your knits, place them in a delicates bag and pin the delicates bag tightly to hold the knit in place
Ensure you wash your knits with like colours (lights with lights and darks with darks).
Dry your knits on a flat surface.
- Ensure that you store your knits folded and on a flat surface (do not hang them on a coat hanger).
