Tucked away in the heart of Goondiwindi, Border Brewing Co is quickly becoming a local favourite for good beer, great food and even better company.

Opened earlier this year by locals Dodie Wilson and Fergus McLaughlin, the brewery has brought a fresh new energy to the town, creating a welcoming space where locals and visitors alike can come together and enjoy the relaxed country atmosphere.

The pair first met back in 2021 and after a few brews, discovered their mutual dream of bringing a craft brewery to town. After a lengthy process of home brew experiments, brewing qualifications and sourcing the perfect venue, Border Brewing opened its doors this past February.

Located in the heart of town, the brewery offers Goondiwindi’s first boutique beverages and wood-fired gourmet pizzas. It’s a welcoming community hub that reflects the character, pride and stories of the region.

There are local touches everywhere you look with artwork by local artists on the walls, centrepieces from shops around town, handpicked wine and spirits from nearby regions, and their produce being sourced from local vendors. It’s clear that Dodie and Fergus are passionate about supporting local and buying local.

Their bar currently features two contract-brewed beers on tap ahead of phase two of the onsite brewery, planned for 2027. Both beers are named after local waterways; The Mighty MacIntyre Lager and Piggy Piggy Pale Ale, inspired by the creek Dodie and Fergus grew up around.
Since opening its doors, Border Brewing has already built a reputation as a vibrant gathering place; somewhere friends catch up after work, families spend weekends together, and travellers experience genuine rural hospitality.

Their vision was simple: create a space that feels welcoming, relaxed and proudly local; and they’ve done exactly that.
