In the tiny town of Talwood, 90km from Goondiwindi, over 500 women gathered to celebrate The Diamond Hunter Pink Ladies Day. Hosted by The Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, the event made a gallant return to the local community raising funds to support the vital work of the Mobile Women’s Health Service in the local region.
Pink Ladies Day began life in Wengallon, an even smaller town, further out West, in 2000 when the local ladies put on a lunch and fashion parade to raise money to buy cleaning products for their new, once weekly, mobile Kindy.
Nowadays, the event has grown beyond imagination with women traveling from all over Australia for an outback day out of shopping, lunch and laughter all served with a dose of inspiration from guest speaker, Wendy Mort.
This year, the event did not disappoint with its new location at the Talwood Recreational Ground. A magnificent white marquee adorned the sporting ground with over 30 stall holders participating to showcase new season fashion, gorgeous homewares, art and more. The Diamond Hunter sponsored diamonds (of course), a one carat diamond dress ring (valued at $5K) as the major prize for the Pink Ladies Day raffle. As well, nearly $20,000 of auction prizes were donated for a jubilant display in the afternoon raising funds to ensure much needed women's health services in the local region.
Goondiwindi Cotton participated this year as a table sponsor with every guest taking home a keepsake from the region and a box of our handcrafted cotton seed oil soap. As well, event organizer and CEO of the Toowoomba Hospital Foundation, Alison Kennedy, wore new season Goondiwindi Cotton, showcasing our Frida Dress in the Daisy Floral print.
Talwood Pink Ladies Day is an event not to be missed in the uniquely beautiful Queensland bush. The atmosphere on the day warms your heart with everyone willing to contribute to the day's success, raising $68,132.05 for such a worthwhile cause. 100% of these funds will also support rural women's health programs in the Darling Downs Region.
