WOMAN IN STYLE | Meet Sam Meron

At Goondiwindi Cotton, we love featuring rural women we admire and this month we interviewed the lovely Sam Meron as this month's Women in Style feature. Sam is the creator of local event "Day in the Grove" and farmer at Macintyre Brook Grove located under an hour from Goondiwindi, read her story below.

Sam, tell us a bit about yourself?

I live in Goondiwindi with my husband and our two young children on his family farm about 70km outside of Goondiwindi. I work with my husband, his father and brother in their cattle, olive and cropping farming operation.

I grew up on a sheep, cattle and dry land farming property in North West, New South Wales. I went away to school in Brisbane and started my law degree there.

I always loved living in the country though and completed the second half of my degree while working on my parents' farm west of Goondiwindi. It was during this time that I met my future husband and have remained in the region ever since.

How would you describe your style?

I love comfy pieces that transition between seasons! While I love to throw on a pretty dress for a fancy occasion, my day-to-day style is definitely jeans, boots, a linen shirt and knit.

You are now in your third year of A Day in the Grove, can you tell us about the event?

We started a Day in the Grove with the intention of creating a unique event for our community and to showcase the beauty of the Goondiwindi region to the outside world. A Day in the Grove invites attendees to join us for a picnic amongst the olive trees and to indulge in a day of fine food, beverages, & live music with friends.

There are 3 different picnic basket packages to choose from, each coming in a 4 or 6 person option. All picnic basket packages are filled with premium produce from our beautiful region and South East Queensland more broadly.

Whether you prefer an assortment of salads, a trio of cheeses, an antipasto platter or a little bit of both, there is an option for you. A portion of all ticket sales and all raffle proceeds will be donated to the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

What do you love about the Goondiwindi Community?

Goondiwindi has such a wonderful bush community. It is a fantastic place to raise a family, which is evident by how much people return to do just that. The diverse range of cultural and sporting groups and events in Goondiwindi make it a lovely place to live and visit.

Tell us, why do you love what you are wearing from Goondiwindi Cotton?

Style and comfort. I love these pieces from Goondiwindi Cotton, because they are all versatile, quality and timeless.
