Grain Central recently featured Goondiwindi Cotton in an article highlighting a groundbreaking trial conducted on a cotton farm near Goondiwindi, Queensland. The trial involved spreading approximately two tonnes of shredded cotton textile waste onto the fields to assess its impact on soil health and cotton yields. The results demonstrated no negative effects, with slight increases in microbial activity and at least 2,070 kg of carbon dioxide equivalents mitigated through the breakdown of the textiles in the soil.
This initiative underscores Goondiwindi Cotton's commitment to sustainable practices and innovation in the cotton industry.
