Australian Cotton recently featured Goondiwindi Cotton in an article discussing a groundbreaking trial that tested returning cotton textile waste to cotton fields. The trial, conducted on a farm near Goondiwindi, Queensland, demonstrated that diverting large amounts of cotton textile waste from landfill had no negative impact on soil health or cotton yields. The project involved processing end-of-life cotton textiles and spreading them onto cotton fields, with results showing increased microbial activity in the soil and a reduction of at least 2,070 kg of carbon dioxide equivalents.
