The Cotton Research and Development Corporation (CRDC) featured Goondiwindi Cotton in an article detailing a 12-month trial on Sam Coulton’s farm, “Alcheringa,” near Goondiwindi. The trial demonstrated that incorporating shredded cotton textile waste into the soil had no adverse effects on soil health or cotton yields. Notably, the process increased microbial activity and mitigated at least 2,070 kg of carbon dioxide equivalents by diverting waste from landfill.

This initiative, a collaboration among Goondiwindi Cotton, Sheridan, Cotton Australia, Worn Up, the Queensland Government, and CRDC-supported soil scientist Dr. Oliver Knox, underscores the potential of circular solutions in agriculture.
