This Father’s Day, we’re celebrating Sam. Goondiwindi Cotton owner, father of four daughters, grandfather and, as it turns out, a very experienced horse loader.
Family has always been a big part of the story behind Goondiwindi Cotton, so for Father’s Day we brought together three generations for a few photos and asked Shona to share one of her favourite memories of growing up with Dad.
And, naturally, it involved horses, pony camp and a fair bit of patience...
"Growing up, my sisters and I went to North Star Pony Camp. Our horses were often fat, usually naughty and pulled straight out of the paddock just before pony camp for a week’s riding.
Loading them was always half the battle. Dad’s measure of a good pony was pretty simple: “They’re worth $3,000 if you can catch them, load them and saddle them!”
