Location: The Station Master's House in Ben Lomond, New South Wales
Nestled in the heart of the picturesque New England Tablelands, The Station Master's House in the Ben Lomond Village offers more than just a cozy place to stay; it’s an experience rich in history, character, and heartfelt hospitality; all thanks to its proud hosts, Tina and Tom Skipper.

Tina, a Guyra local for 25 years now, with a passion for community and comfort, runs the charming Airbnb with care and attention to every detail. As soon as guests arrive, it’s clear that this is not your average stay. The house has been lovingly restored since the couple purchased it in mid-2022, while still maintaining its original heritage charm from when it was established in 1884.
With high ceilings, original timber floors, and vintage touches, the home tells a story of a bygone era. Yet Tina has ensured it includes all the modern comforts that today’s travellers expect: plush beds, a fully equipped kitchen, and thoughtful additions like an outdoor fire pit and picnic gear for those hankering to explore the surrounding outdoors.
“My favourite feature is the red door!” Tina says. “It contrasts so beautifully with the fresh white colour of the home. The sunroom is also a favourite; it is north-facing, so the light floods in, and with its beautiful golden-yellow painted floor, it’s a great place to kick your shoes off and nap!”
Whether it’s a weekend away, a mid-week escape, or a longer retreat into the countryside, The Station Master's House offers something special: an authentic stay with a genuine host.
In a world of fast-paced travel and cookie-cutter hotels, Tina’s place stands out as a
reminder that travel can still feel personal, grounded, and beautifully local.
